About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Auburn, Katrina's Café offers a warm and inviting American dining experience that truly shines when it comes to breakfast and brunch. This beloved local spot effortlessly combines the charm of a downhome café with a menu bursting with flavor and creativity, making it a go-to destination for both locals and visitors alike.

The star of the show here has to be the exquisite lemon yogurt pancakes. Imagine three fluffy, moist pancakes with a zesty brightness that makes syrup unnecessary—each bite feels like a perfect harmony of tangy and sweet that simply melts on the tongue. As Mary Kenison raves, these pancakes push the bar so high that you can't help but applaud the kitchen’s mastery. For those craving savory delights, the Denver Omelette and the Avocado Delight Omelet burst with fresh ingredients, while the Salmon Eggs Benedict and Chorizo Eggs Benedict provide a rich yet delicate balance that complements the morning perfectly.

The menu is expansive and thoughtfully crafted, presenting brunch classics with a unique twist. The Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, paired with seasoned breakfast potatoes, delivers a hearty, soul-satisfying start to the day. For something lighter, the housemade quiche served with fresh fruit offers a sophisticated touch to your breakfast routine. Meanwhile, folks who prefer waffles or French toast won’t be disappointed; the Belgian waffle, especially when paired with eggs and bacon, strikes the perfect note between fluffy and crispy indulgence.

The culinary delights don’t end with breakfast. The lunch offerings, including the Tuna Melt loaded with albacore tuna and melted jack cheese and the robust Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich on grilled sourdough, cater to hearty appetites craving bold flavors. The Ruben with New York style pastrami piled high with sauerkraut is an ode to classic deli fare that promises satisfaction with every bite.

Katrina's Café ambiance complements the menu beautifully with its cozy indoor seating and dog-friendly outdoor options, where one can savor a leisurely meal in comfortable surroundings. The staff fosters a welcoming, warm atmosphere, highlighted by speedy service that respects your time without sacrificing attentiveness, as several guests appreciate. Jenny McGuckin’s account of accommodating gluten-free bread preferences exemplifies their commitment to personalized service—truly going the extra mile to ensure every diner feels at home.

While most experiences highlight excellent food and friendly service, it’s important to acknowledge and thoughtfully consider all feedback. Every diner deserves an equitable and attentive hospitality experience, and recognizing such concerns is vital to continually growing as a community-centered establishment.

For those seeking a refined yet approachable American breakfast and lunch experience in Auburn, Katrina's Café stands out as a destination that treats every dish as a crafted delight—with an inviting atmosphere to match. Whether stopping by for the invigorating Lemon Yogurt Pancakes, a savory omelette, or a hearty sandwich, your taste buds and appetite will both leave deeply satisfied.

The lemon yogurt pancakes were impeccable! I honestly am having a hard time thinking of any place where I've had a pancake with so much flavor and fluffiness. I didn't even need syrup! Perfectly moist. Kudos the chefs because WOW! My husband had the turkey pesto omelet and I only was allowed one bite to try it but from that 1 bite I definitely knew what I was getting the next time I came in here! The staff were very friendly but definitely busy as they didn't quite make the rounds as often as we needed for fillups but were quickly accommodating when we asked for anything. As far as the seating goes, there is an outdoor option which is nice because the inside was a little cramped with how busy it got. If your needing a little extra elbow room I recommend sitting outside for sure. All in all, a wonderful establishment and will Definitely be returning for the high quality breakfast!

You can’t go wrong coming here for breakfast. The service is excellent, warm and friendly. I had the turkey mushroom omelette with zucchini added. They give you the option of splitting your side with 1/2 potatoes and 1/2 fruit. I even was able to have a side of French toast as they have gluten free bread and will make you whatever you want with it. Such a treat!

First time visiting the Auburn area, this place was recommended to visit for brunch .. Look, food was delicious But we are a Latino family visiting.. My wife and I couldn't help noticing not getting the same service as the people of other race/ Skin color..... We waited for about 7 minutes for someone to come and ask if we wanted some coffee or water at least. And not because it was busy... There were plenty of empty tables inside and out ... 2 more couples (not Latinos) came while we were waiting and their service was very obvious... Fast... In a matter of less than a minute the waitress approached them offering something to drink.... An elderly lady with a black walking boot came out and greeted some customers and asked them how everything was.... She Walked by us and didn't even say hello.... We are a paying customer just because we or others don't have the same skin color doesn't mean we expect less than a good service. Will not come back here.

For some reason I'd never heard of Katrina's Cafe before and I come to Auburn for breakfast semi regularly. Someone told me they have the best biscuits and gravy in the foothills so I had to investigate. I'm not a huge biscuit fan, that's my wife's thing, but I am in to gravy. We were greeted and seated very quickly. The server was friendly and she got even more friendly once she found out we were newbs. The server gave us several suggestions and my wife ordered the Lemon Yogurt Pancakes. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. She loved her pancakes and even offered me a bite, they tasted great. The CFS tasted great even without the gravy, which it not usually the case. Starting with a 9/10 steak and then putting 9/10 gravy on it #chefskiss. The chicken fried steak was excellent. Unfortunately the potatoes were dry and unflavorful except for salt. Even the gravy couldn't help the potatoes. The toast was dry and room temp like it sat out too long. They were slammed so I'm not going to dock the service for having empty coffee cups for over 15 minutes. I didn't see much coordination between the servers, it didn't seem like they weren't helping each other but again it could have just been a busy day. I'll update the review after the next visit.

Katrina's is worth the drive if you are not local. We always order the lemon yogurt pancakes. The portion sizes are ample, and the food is fresh.
